Settings

Your username

Your username is set when you first sign up and cannot be changed. It’s used to sign in and as your profile URL (username.withme.you). Usernames must be 3–30 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, starting and ending with a letter or number.

Display name

Your display name is what other people see next to your photos and in event member lists. It’s optional — if you don’t set one, your username is shown instead. You can change it anytime from the Settings page.

Profile photo

Add a profile photo to make it easier for people to recognize you in events and member lists. Your photo appears in the nav bar, on your public profile page, and anywhere your name shows up.

Adding or changing your photo

On the Settings page, tap your current photo (or the circle with your initials) to choose an image from your device. A circular preview appears — drag to reposition the image, and use the zoom slider (or pinch on mobile) to zoom in or out. When it looks right, tap Save. The photo is cropped and saved exactly as you see it in the preview.

Removing your photo

Below your photo, tap Remove to delete it. Your initials will show instead — a colored circle with the first letters of your display name (or username if no display name is set).

Where your photo appears

Push notifications

You can receive OS-level notifications on your device when someone invites you to a group or event, or when an invitation is withdrawn or you’re removed from an event. These appear as banner notifications even when the app isn’t open.

Enabling push notifications

On the Settings page, find the “Push notifications” card and tap Enable. Your browser will ask for permission — tap Allow. Once enabled, the card will show “Enabled — you’ll receive OS notifications.”

What triggers a push notification

If the group or event has an avatar, it appears as the notification icon on your device so you can tell at a glance what the notification is about. Otherwise, the standard fafam icon is used.

Disabling push notifications

On the Settings page, tap Disable in the push notifications card. You’ll stop receiving OS notifications immediately. You can re-enable at any time.

Device requirements

Notifications you’ll still see without push

Even with push disabled, the bell icon in the nav bar still shows a red dot for unread notifications. You’ll see everything when you open the app — push just adds the OS-level alerts so you don’t miss time-sensitive invitations.

Invite preferences

Under “Invite Preferences” on the Settings page, you control who can invite you to groups and events:

This applies to both group invites and event invites. Change it anytime — it takes effect immediately on the next invite attempt.

Signing out

Tap “Sign out” on the Settings page. You’ll be logged out and returned to the login screen. To get back in, sign in with your username — we’ll text a code to your phone.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from the Settings page. Scroll past “Sign out” and tap “Delete my account.” Here’s what happens:

Getting your account back

If you change your mind, you can log back in with the same phone number. Your account is restored — username, display name, everything. But your hosted events and their photos are gone permanently. Deletion of content is irreversible; only the account itself can be recovered.

This also works if someone sends you an event link after you’ve deleted your account. Tap the link, enter your phone number, verify, and your account is restored. You’ll land right in the event’s join page — tap “Join Event” and you’re back.

Account suspension and bans

Temporary suspension

Your account may be temporarily suspended if you:

While suspended, you can’t sign in. A suspended account can be restored by an admin if the issue is resolved.

Permanent ban

Your account will be permanently banned for:

A permanent ban is irreversible. When your account is permanently banned:
